Kuala Lumpur come 2020

In May 2008, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) released a document entitled 'Draft Kuala Lumpur 2020 City Plan' which aims to mark out the direction of development for the city of Kuala Lumpur until the year 2020. Many see the publishing of this draft plan as a step in the right direction because it allows everyone, from city dwellers to developers, to see a more transparent plan of the city. Even so, there are strong arguments that this draft plan is fundamentally flawed and needs to be re-drafted.

What can You do?

if you go to the http://klcityplan2020.dbkl.gov.my website you will notice two things;

1) There are a lot of appeals/complaints from people who have found out that their properties have been completely rezoned to something completely different form their initial grants.

- which shows that they really did not do any checking on existing land use....

2) For each of these complaints (listed under Opinions) the outcome notification from DBKL is all the same response - "The draft of Kuala Lumpur City Plan 2020 has not been approved by Minister."

- which shows that they don't really care....

Try going to http://klcityplan2020.dbkl.gov.my/eopinion/search_view_outcome.php?search=473

and changing the last number to any number < 480
